String Music Solo Music Elizabeth's Viola Book Whilst teaching in Germany, I met and worked with Elizabeth. As two of the few English women in the tightly-knit community, we quickly became close friends. Many happy hours were spent discussing viola teaching technique and repertoire. On one occasion Elizabeth lent me a book of hand-written pieces which she had carefully written out for her own pupils. Sadly Elizabeth died of cancer less than two years after we first met. On my return from Germany, I realised that I had never returned her manuscript book, and I promised myself that I would print the music in her memory. That was over 20 years ago and somehow the job never got done! However, at last, here it is - a collection of tunes for viola in first position. Elizabeth's Viola Book is a collection of both well-known and unusual tunes. Some of the finger and rhythmic patterns are more challenging and this would be a good collection for additional teaching material, sight-reading practice and for playing for pleasure at home. Elizabeth's Violin Book This is an edited version of the Viola Book in the treble clef. Some alterations have been made to make the tunes suitable for playing on the violin. Many of them would also work well played on the flute or the recorder. Ensemble Music My Love's An Arbutus - A simple but tuneful arrangement of the Irish folk tune for string orchestra. The 1st and 2nd part require C and G naturals and the cello part has some chromatic movement. Score and set of 8 parts The Vicar Of Bray - A lively arrangement of the English
folk tunes for string orchestra. Menuet - J. S. Bach - In this arrangement the "tune" is in the 2nd violin. The cello part is optional. Score and set of 8 parts Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
- Mozart - A lively reworking of the first movement for elementary string orchestra.
